Rubbish has increasingly becoming a serious problem not only in urban areas but also in rural areas. And Tu Ne commune is not an exceptional case. Rubbish was not collected, posing risks to the environment and human health. It has also adversely affected the unique landscape of the area. As a result, the villagers of Hamlet 2 and 3 in Tu Ne commune have come up with solutions to their waste problems. After meetings among themselves were held and consultation with the CECAD project staff took place, the villagers came up with a collective action, which was reflected in a common proposal on setting up a rubbish collecting system.
Their solutions include:
| |
Conducting an awareness raising campaign on environment protection. |
| |
Establishing a team of two people who are responsible for collecting the rubbish and whose salaries are paid by the villagers in the two hamlets. |
| |
Producing 2 rubbish collecting carts, and bins. |
| |
Constructing a dumping site for the commune. |
The proposal on the community initiative was approved by the CECAD. The villagers have received the technical and financial support from CECAD to make their dreams become true and important as well is to protect their environment and sleeping beauty.
